Contributing Writers:
Andrea grew up in the suburbs of Detroit but still claims the 313! She’s been writing about music for the past 5 years and has loved every moment of it, even the super embarrassing moments such as not being on the guest list and pronouncing a band’s name wrong in the middle of an interview.
Derek Johnson loves to listen to all types of music. He is passionate about reading and writing as well, especially when it comes to music. He is a recent graduate from Stony Brook University and he is an aspiring music journalist. He currently works in Manhattan and resides in Brooklyn.

Seeking adventure in the throes of a mid-life crisis at thirty, Amy packed her car with the essentials - clothes, music, movies, books, and a killer sound system- and headed South, landing in New Orleans. Once there, adventure found her again, this time as a music writer. She has interviewed influential acts like Justin Broadrick, Mike Williams, and Scott Kelly. Not a genre girl, her preferences are rock and metal. She lives in New Orleans whee she rocks out with her husband, Bryce. She also has two books being published in late 2008.
Anderson is a music fiend, travel junkie, ESL teacher, club DJ, and writer - too bad
Anderson Cooper will always have him outclassed. Currently he lives in Busan, South Korea with his wife, where they teach English to elementary students. Before Korea he spent a year backpacking in India & Nepal, and is planning a bicycling trip in SE Asia after a few months of camping and music festivals back in America. He believes that there’s too much in the world to experience to do anything foolish like settling down. As for music, he loves everything except pop country. Beyond that, he believes that good music knows no genre.
Nicholas is a 24 year-old Trinidadian-Canadian science geek by day, and an aspiring writer and poet by night. His general interests include obsessing over basketball and tennis, watching foreign films, cheesy horror movies, and comedies, going out to clubs and getting lost on the dance floor, eating ridiculous amounts of sushi and curry chicken, any kind of creative expression, anything French, and — of course — listening to music until he’s music’d-out.
Jess is a student in New York City, trying to figure out which direction to take in life. She has a few ideals to work with, though she would rather passionately write and live in a box than work at a 40-hour cubicle job, travel the world (#1 destination? The Middle East), and have a shot at getting a date with John Cusack. Growing up to classic rock and Motown, she appreciates music that has the power to permanently tug at certain heart strings. She also appreciates the Guilty Pleasure every now and then, which is why she has seen Hootie & The Blowfish live three times. She is also a sucker for breath-taking sunsets and baking her famous Peaches and Cream Pie.
Katherine works in advertising at Harper’s Bazaar magazine and is a freelancer for ESPN the Magazine. She has a background writing about music with the alternative weekly Encore in Wilmington North Carolina and currently resides in New York City.

Tamara lives in what is known as the “Windy City” and has two sons ages 12 and 10. Although she has been blessed with many talents, writing is her forte. She plans to start her own magazine and sitcom in the future and has written small columns in Essence magazine, Hip Hop Weekly and Sister 2 Sister magazine. She is a student majoring in journalism and specializes in music/fashion reviews and blogs/ poetry. She is outgoing, articulate, intelligent, kind-hearted, open-minded, ambitious and a fashion queen. She spends lots of time with her sons and fiance, and loves to cook.
Seth Wilson is a transplant to the New York area after spending the first two decades of his life stuck in the Southeast. After college, he spent a year writing film reviews in Chattanooga, receiving hate mail and painting. You can read his chainsaw-like insights at www.chattanoogapulse.com. When not enflaming the masses by hating on Juno, he spends his free time playing the drums and walking through parks.
Rachel currently resides in Boston, where she works as an IT Recruiter and a freelance writer. She also writes for a music column in Worcester Magazine and Jamsbio Magazine.
Keith Dovoric
Keith resides in Belleville, NJ and works as an English Teacher and a Musician. His interests include song writing and hiking. His heroes are Hunter S. Thompson and Warren Zevon.
Taisha Brooke Rivera
(Social Ebonics)
Growing up in the eighties hip-hop golden era, Taisha always knew she was musically inclined. In 2000 she went off to the Institute of Audio Research (IAR) as well as Baruch to gain more knowledge of music and the business itself. While in school she acquired an internship with Loud Records and had the pleasure and honor of pushing the late great Big Pun’s last album. Now she has become an indie hip-hop critic writing for the likes of urbanmagazine.com and www.thescribeforce.com. If you’re looking for brain food music, she is where it’s at.
Domingo Justin Beltran was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and is currently employed as a Group Leader for an After-School Arts program, which he enjoys entirely. He also loves reading, writing, going out with friends, and of course, MUSIC.
Seth tries not to dwell too often within the throes of a Mahler induced brooding escapade. Instead, he would rather play the drums on his knee while finding ways to incorporate the word ’slake’ into a rambling piece of writing.
Adam graduated from Rider University in 2005 with a BA in Journalism. Directly after graduating Adam went to work for Electric Factory Concerts (now Live Nation) as a Booking Coordinator. Will is an 18 year old student on a GAP year before starting a History degree at Cardiff University in 2009. He loves all types of music particularly British indie music and rock, goes to as many gigs as financially possible and has recently started teaching himself guitar (to the annoyance of everyone who hates bad renditions of Oasis’ Wonderwall). Will works 12-hour shifts in a DVD packing factory to fund his travels on his GAP year and writes articles for Webooks to keep himself sane.http://www.webooks.co.uk/articles/writers/Will_Davies.aspx
Dave is the product of not enough sleep and too much free time. His musical taste expands and contracts with his mood and he is for some reason drawn to the weirdest music he can find. He likes photography, and loves his girlfriend more than anything in the whole world. He has a new favorite band every week, but if you ever seriously ask him, his heart still belongs to Neutral Milk Hotel. He’s in 4 different bands.
Dan is from Bellerose, New York. In 2002, he moved his family to Palm Coast, Florida. Dan has been playing drums his whole life, but did not join a band until he moved to Florida. With the band’s business, one thing led to another and Dan began to write for various print and online music publications. Dan is currenly playing drums for the band Living Proof, www.myspace.com/livingproofgroup and is also the President of his own Promotional company called Breakthrough Promotions, www.myspace.com/breakthroughpromotions.
Sami has worked at Sirius Satellite Radio producing a show for Maxim Radio. He’s hosted a rock countdown on Fuse TV. He plays in the band 23 to Sparta. He’s hosted music countdowns on Sirius. He DJ’s in three different bars in New York City. He’s recorded vocals for a techno song about how awesome New Jersey is. And now he’s writing articles for Smells Like Music. Oh did he also mention that he thinks Radiohead is the best band in the world? He will also be willing to fight you tooth and nail to prove that point. Music has always and will continue to be a part of his life until the day he dies…or until Radiohead breaks up.
