Elton John and Lily Allen Clash at GQ Awards Show

On September 2, 2008, Elton John and Lily Allen co-hosted the GQ Men of the Year Awards in London, not without incident. A champagne-sipping Allen drank on stage all night, becoming visibly inebriated and appearing to be a caricature of the young and famous.

At one point, when Sir Elton joined Allen on stage to present Inspiration Award to Tony Bennett, Allen took a sip from her glass and began the segment, at which time Elton John quipped, “Are you going to have another drink?” Allen replied by stating, “F— off Elton, I’m 40 years younger than you. I have my whole life ahead of me.” At which time Elton retorted, “I could still snort you under the table.” Lily Allen’s drunken behavior wasn’t the worst offense of hers of that evening. Following the exchange, as Elton John introduced the 82 year-old Tony Bennett, Lilly Allen interrupted, stating, “I’ll still (have sex with) him.”

Lily Allen took to her blog defending her actions stating: “Elton and I exchanged jokes and there were no hard feelings at all. In fact, neither of us gave [it] a second thought. I’m not defending my drunkenness because I don’t need to, I’m 23, it was an awards ceremony. I drank the free champagne, how awful of me.”

Apparently Sir Elton doesn’t feel the same way. He is reported saying, “I was thinking about asking her to tour with me and maybe even do a duet. Obviously that won’t be happening.”

What’s even more interesting about this story is that the management company that Elton John owns represents Lily Allen.

My advice to Lily Allen: Stay away from the booze and don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
