808s & HeartbreakKanye West is back in the industry spotlight a little more than a year after he released his critically praised album, Graduation. On November 25th, his new album, 808s and Heartbreaks, is being released nationwide. Finishing his saga of ‘college-based’ albums, West is ready to grow up and focus on different aspects of his soul. However, West probably was not expecting to grow up so quickly. Within the past year, West broke up with his long-term girlfriend, been arrested for assault, and, most tragically, lost his mother. Judging by the handful of track leaks within the past few weeks, West has clearly been affected. Read more

Phish Reunites for 2009 Tour

On October 1st, every jam band fanatic’s dream came true: Phish announced that they would be reuniting for a series of concerts next spring. It’s been four years since the band’s breakup, so it goes without saying that Phish fans worldwide were elated beyond belief. So far, three tour dates have been announced: March 6-8 at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, VA. The band stated that they plan to announce additional touring early next year. Read more

Jonathan Davis has “Got Money” but No Swagger

For those of you who may or may not know, Jonathan Davis (lead singer of Korn) is working on a solo album. Now to the many Korn fans, this is good news considering their last major “hit” was a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall”. However I came across Jonathan’s website http://www.jdsfa.com/ and I found myself listening to a track he had just recorded with Jim Root of Slipknot. But this was no ordinary track. This was another cover. Not of a rock song, however, but a popular hip-hop track by Lil’ Wayne called “Got Money”. Read more

Elton John and Lily Allen Clash at GQ Awards Show

On September 2, 2008, Elton John and Lily Allen co-hosted the GQ Men of the Year Awards in London, not without incident. A champagne-sipping Allen drank on stage all night, becoming visibly inebriated and appearing to be a caricature of the young and famous.

At one point, when Sir Elton joined Allen on stage to present Inspiration Award to Tony Bennett, Allen took a sip from her glass and began the segment, at which time Elton John quipped, “Are you going to have another drink?” Read more

Chris Cornell’s 3rd Solo Album To Be Released October 14th

On October 14th, Chris Cornell will try to prove that the third time is a charm with the release of his third solo album, Scream. Cornell fronted the band Soundgarden, a pioneering group in the grunge scene, until they broke up in 1996. In 1997, he went on to front Audioslave with former members of Rage Against the Machine until the band broke up in 2007. Read more

AC/DC Releases New Album: Black Ice

Black Ice, AC/DC’s much anticipating latest album, will be released by Columbia on October 20th. Following the way of such acts as country artist, Garth Brooks and rock artists, The Eagles and Journey, Black Ice will be sold exclusively at Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club retail and online stores, and at the bands website. Black Ice is the first release from AC/DC since Stiff Upper Lip in 2000. They teamed up with producer Brendan O’Brien for this 15 track album. Read more
